Customer Assistant (Tills & Giftware)

Job description

This role will be for 32hrs per week to include every Saturday – with the opportunity for overtime throughout the week; dependant on business peaks. Sundays may be required during busy periods/holiday cover.

The role of Customer Assistant will be a varied role and is a fantastic opportunity for those who love interacting with customers along with being hardworking, quick learning and have a passion for product whether it be gift, horticultural or food etc . You will provide friendly and knowledgeable service to our customers, therefore great customer service skills are a must.

Working as a team to maximise sales and service within the department, your duties will include:

  • Greeting customers & assisting customers, helping them find what they’re looking for
  • Manual lifting, helping customers take heavier products into their cars or trolleys safely
  • Stock replenishment/merchandising/housekeeping, ensuring that items are attractively displayed, and department is clean & tidy
  • Delivering excellent standards of customer service at all times by listening, understanding and dealing with customer queries in a confident, professional, knowledgeable and friendly manner

Working on our tills, which will include:

  • Scanning & weighing relevant products
  • Checking customers’ ages for restrictions on items like alcohol
  • Packing and wrapping purchases
  • Taking payments and processing coupons / vouchers
  • Passing customer feedback to management
  • Escalating customer complaints to line manager / duty manager where needed
  • Leaving our customers with an excellent final impression as they leave the store
